In The Question Of Pets

  Now assuredly I will get some flak about this post as probably the majority of people out there (i.e. dudes) are all about dogs and think cats are just animals without purpose.
 
  Well now, give me a second.....

  First and foremost, under the flag of Bachelor Code, as well as Guy Code, it's important for men to own an animal. This shows women (and potential girlfriends) that we are responsible adults and that we can actually care for another living thing. And no, plants don't count.

  Where the scales tilt in argument for dogs v. cats is when you begin to wander into the area of bachelorhood. Bear in mind, as a bachelor, you'll be typically out of the house more. Working, hitting the bars, going on trips, hopefully staying the night at chicks houses, etc.etc.etc. Cats, mind you, are very low maintenance. As long as they got sustenance and a semi-clean cat box, they're good to go for extended periods of time. You don't need to worry about getting home to take them for a walk, or about them chowing through your bathroom door when you're not home. And mooore importantly, if a cat doesn't like anyone you bring home, more often than not, they'll just avoid you two outright. Dogs have a tendancy to growl, bark, beak your date in the crotch, etc.etc.etc.

   Now I'm not saying cats are better than dogs by any standard. Both make awesome pets, and both have their pros and cons. But as a bachelor, I'm satisfied knowing that if I need to head to my friends for the weekend who lives a couple hours of way, all I need to do is leave a couple ginormous bowls of food and water out, and they'll be alright.
